Many of these pig butchering scams revolve around a kind of charisma bombing hitched to a con where the illusion of money multiplying emboldens the target to make riskier bets. Often based solidly in the storied tradition of romance scams, pig butchering operates in equal parts on bogusly earned trust and good old-fashioned, early-retirement dreams of serious lucre.
